Receptionist/Customer Service Assistant - Pretoria

The CSIR has a vacancy for Customer Service Assistant in the CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC). The incumbent will provide support and administrative assistance to customers, delegates and the Customer Relations and Quality Portfolios. This position is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment and stock to assist clients s in working order and available;
  • Ensure that newspapers, magazines, ICC & CSIR promotional material and any other relevant tourism materials is displayed for clients reading;
  • Assist with Customer services requirements;
  • Ensure that the meeting venues are clean; electronic equipment, including the air-conditioning system are in working condition.
  • Ensure that the foyer and registration desk is neat and clean at all times and that the business centre is neat and operational;
  • Manage petty cash float, the sale of cellular airtime and Gautrain gold cards to clients and reconcile monthly;
  • Produce and put up venue signage and schedule for all meetings;
  • Order promotional material and ensure adequate stock at all times;
  • Provide administrative and backup support to the Reservations Office whilst on leave;
  • Stand-in for Group Assistant when required;
  • Report any front garden or building facade maintenance problems to the Facilities Manager;

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Secretarial Diploma with at least two years’ experience in a similar environment;
  • Conference and/or hospitality industry experience;
  • Administrative systems and reception experience;
  • Experience with reservations standards and procedures;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and Rendezvous;
  • Language proficiency (English spoken & written);
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills;
  • Good time management skills;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Customer service orientated;
  • Excellence/quality orientated;
  • Team-player;
  • Rule orientated.
