Assistant Officer (post level 13) (contract appointment:
1 year) (3 positions)
Duties and responsibilities:
Provide general, administrative and organisational support to University Access Programme (UAP) office and sub-regions.
Maintain and expand the image of University Access Programme.
Provide a quick and accurate service to all stakeholders.
Provide support to all Access Programme staff as required.
Assist with administration of applications and registration tasks for South Campus and sub-regions.
Take minutes of meetings.
Assist with communication to students (Blackboard and SMS).
Assist with meeting administration, organisation of workshops and functions.
Assist with stock-take of books.
Assist with handing out of books and preparation toward the handouts.
Assist with the additional examination processing.
One (1) to two (2) years relevant experience in higher education working environment.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.
Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet.
Ability to work accurately.
Ability to multi-task.
Good administrative and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
Ability to function under pressure and against tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team.
Proficiency in the official administrative language of the institution.
Person-centred approach to interacting with individuals, often telephonically which relies mostly on sound verbal communication skills and language skills.
Proficiency in the official language of the UFS, both written and verbal.
The ability to work independently and under pressure.
