About the role

PwC is seeing a growing demand for Data Management (DM) services from our clients. Data is considered the lifeblood of an organization and one of the most valuable enterprise assets. Our DM practice addresses our client needs to ensure key data assets are available, accurate, complete, current, secure and compliant. This is accomplished through PwC’s scientific approach to data management, including the people, processes, controls and technology areas of our clients. The results allow business executives to derive intelligence from data for precise and instant decisions to achieve competitiveness, allow market share growth, provide superior service to clients, ensure operational effectiveness and compliance to data and information related legislations.
The purpose of this job is to manage and lead PWC’s data management engagements to support our clients in the plan, design, development and implementation of all major data management disciplines to achieve our client’s data management strategy, enabling all their business and compliance requirements. Our DM assistant managers must be able to interface with several stakeholder groups including our consulting partners, PwC data management practitioners and our clients.

Essential skills and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Data Management, Information Management, Strategy, Data Architecture, Governance, MDM, Analytics and Data Compliance
  • Minimum 5 year of experience in some of the following key roles: data analysts, data architects, data stewards, data specialists, data scientists, data governance specialists, data quality analysts, data compliance analysts, Master Data Management (MDM) analysts, Meta data analysts, Data modellers, data migrations specialists, data privacy specialists and data security specialists
  • Minimum 5 year of Project Management experience.
  • Experience in regulatory projects, knowledge of BSBS239, IFRS9, PoPI will be preferential.
  • Knowledge and experience in Financial Services (banking, insurance, assurance, asset managers, etc.) preferred, Telecommunications, Private sector and/or Mining.
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player.
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to prioritize work well.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering or any related fields
  • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (preferable)

Desirable skills or attributes
  • Management consulting experience in Data Management disciplines.
  • Familiarity with approaches of applying data management disciplines to solve questions and requirements for our clients.
  • Storytelling – building storyboards and other presentations targeted at senior business audience. Could be in PowerPoint or other presentation media (videos, interactive presentations, etc.)
  • Have experience with planning and roadmap creation; proven track record for deploying high quality and effective DM solutions.
  • Articulate and passionate verbal communicator – comfortable communicating with all of our stakeholders (partners, consultants & clients).
  • Flexible mind-set and comfort with multi-tasking. (You will be exposed to different DM products and solutions, and your role may change rapidly given shifting product priorities and resource needs.)
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, must be familiar with Agile methodologies; specifically Scrum.
  • Leadership.
  • Management consulting experience.
  • Data Management, Information Management, Business Intelligence and Analytics
  • Analytical and decision thinking.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic.
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually.
  • Business and commercial awareness.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships and a wide relationship network across PwC, our clients and external service providers.
  • Able to work with and through diverse groups comprising technical and business specialists.
  • Good planning and organisation skills.
  • An aptitude for co-ordinating resources and facilities across multiple projects.
  • Delivery focused but not at the expense of quality.
